Poor Puppy (story is not for the weak of stomach)

Ok, so our trip to St. George could have gone a lot better. We couldn't get anyone to tend the dog while we were gone so we decided to jsut take him with us. And taking him wasn't a big deal anyway. But while we were there, we had an accident with the dog...:( We were pulling out of the drive way and Chad didn't know that the dog had gone accross the front of the car and the tire ran over the chain pulling the dog's head down into the tire. Oh the sound of his screaming still haunts me. So we get out and Chad is the first to see and there is blood everywhere. And those of you who know Chad knows that he does not handle the sight of blood well. So I get out and go over to try and unhook the chain from the house, but the back tire was on it. I went back to the dog who had run under the car, and Chad was able to get it unhooked from his coller. I got the blanket out of the back and told everyone to get out of the car. Chad put the blanket over the dog thinking that we crushed his head, but not realizing that the dog was sitting up. So we put the dog in the back and I road in the back by him while Chad drove to the vet. After we got him all checked in and hearing the vet seem to think he was ok we left for a while. We went back later to see how he was doing and the vet said all of the blood was just a bloody nose but he was going to have to stich his eye shut becasue it was so swollen he thought that it might cause the eye to come out. So anyway he had to stay the night so we drove home a day late and Chad had to miss a day of work. When we picked up the dog the nurse was having a hard time getting him out of the kennel until I called to the dog and he came right over to me. It was so sweet. the rid home was very uncomfortable for him but he seems to be doing better. Here is a picture if you dare to look.....it was taken the day after we got home. The green thing you're seeing is not his eye it is a green button that the vet sewed on.
And then this picture was taken today. it looks a lot better because the sweeling has gone down. apparently the vet didn't sew the whole eye shut and since the sweeling is down he can open the lid.
He's doing really good. he of course is on drugs and so he's just been sleeping a lot but he started wagging his tail and just looks like he's starting to feel better. It could have been a lot worse. but since the tire just basicly (from what it looks like) side swipped his face there were no broken bones just soft tissue damange around the eye. He hates wearing the coller but wont leave his stitches alone. he has to have the stitches for 2 weeks and it's already been a few day's. He has been extra clingy and snuggly. And we're thankful that he will be ok..
